ISLAMABAD: NADRA has registered 99% of adult population in AJK and
issued approximately 2.32 million Computerized National ID Cards
(CNICs).
This was stated Deputy Chairman NADRA in a statement
issued here Saturday. Mirpur District tops with 100% of its adult
population registered while Kotli, Bhimber Sudhnoti, Bagh and Poonch
districts have 99% people registered. 92% citizens of Haveli, Neelum
Valley, Hatian and Muzaffarabad have registered with national database.
AJK had seen its registration surge after 2005 earthquake while the
recent registration drive was just to bridge the gap whereas a total
of 2.3 million adult citizens of AJK have CNICs up to date, he
mentioned.
Tariq Malik said that NADRA has been issuing CNICs
in the state of Azad Jammu and Kashmir over last ten years. The
registration was undertaken at fast pace right after the 2005
earthquake to supplement the relief and rehabilitation efforts.
However, NADRA had offered its Mobile Registration Vans to remote and
far flung rural areas on peoples request to register poorest of poor
and women folks who were unable to come to NADRA’s registration centers
setup in urban cities. He stressed that all CNICs issued by NADRA are
genuine and if somebody has suspicion they can verify any card by using
NADRA’s SMS service, by sending the CNIC number on 7000 using a mobile
phone and get particulars of CNIC verified in less than 15 seconds.

Malik said that NADRA on 25th June has established facilitation
centers at Muzaffarabad (tel# 0582-2920439)and PHQ Islamabad (tel#s
051-90391493 and 051-9108122) to verify the authenticity of CNICs which
will work till completion of AJK election while all NADRA offices
(NRCs) in AJK will also function as sub facilitation hubs during the
election. "In case any party or candidate or individual has any
complaint regarding use of fake CNIC, they can contact our facilitation
centers or check themselves using SMS service" said Tariq Malik GM
NADRA Islamabad and Manager Operations will be present at Muzaffarabad
to monitor NADRA’s operation to gauge public and political parties
complaints and concerns in AJK and duty officers will be available
round the clock in NADRA Headquarter, he added. He urged that
complaints regarding fake ID must come with CNIC number so that action
