Govt constitutes five-member commission with “If” condition

Government issued notification to constitute a five-member judicial commission in the heading of Apex Court Judge Justice Mian Saqib Nisar Khan to investigate the murder of journalist Saleem Shahzad here on Thursday.
Chief Justice of Federal Shariat Court Agha Rafique Ahmed, DIG Islamabad, Additional IG investigations Punjab and President of PFUJ would be the part of commission.
The commission would complete investigations of murder case within six weeks and its secretariat would be established in information ministry.
The commission would investigate the reasons that why Saleem Shahzad was killed and who is involved in his killing and commission would propose suggestions for the protection of journalists in the future and information ministry would provide complete support to investigation commission.
It is relevant to mention here that Bureau Chief of Asia Times Saleem Shahzad was kidnapped from Islamabad when he was going to participate in a TV program and later he was tortured to death and his body was recovered from Mandi Bahuddin.
After his death, journalists started their protest, on Wednesday they staged a sit-in in front of parliament and government accepted their demand, and constituted a commission headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.
According to notification, if Judge of Supreme Court Mian Saqib Nisar accepts the offer to head the judicial commission then he would be included in the omission. SANA
