Peshawar : The round table conference convened by Jamaat-e-Islami besides calling upon the incumbent government to apologize the affectees of drone attacks on Monday constituted a 10 members committee
comprising ofdifferent political parties to consult their central leadership for launching a joint movement againstthe drone attacks.The moot which was attended by 10 political parties except ruling ANP and PPP also asked the rulers to resign for their failure to protect the people and improve law and order in the country. The round table conference was attended by Anwar Kamal Khan Marwat of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Asad Qaiser of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, Bakht Baidar Khan of Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao, Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti, member of the National Assembly, Intikhab Khan Chamkani of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, Abdul Jalil Jan of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, Abdus Salam Salfi of Jamiat Ahle Hadith, Maulana Yousaf Shah of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami and others and Professor Ibrahim Khan, Shabir Ahmad khan and Bahrullah Advocate of Jamaat-e-Islami.Representatives of the political parties while expressing their views said 4500 innocents people havebeen killed in the drone attacks while 35 thousands Pakistanis have lost their lives in terrorism.Load shedding, price-hike, joblessness, corruption and lawlessness have made life a living hell for the people but there is no strategy with rulers to get rid of the problems,they observed.The politicians, mainly from opposition parties said the rulers have lost the trust of people therefore their rule has no justification. rulers should immediately quit power and provide the nation and opportunity to elect new leadership, who could steer the country out of the prevailing mess,they demanded.Jamat-e-Islami provincial chief Professor Ibraheem proposed a committee comprising of one each representative from all the participating parties should be formed, which could evolve a formal line of action for resolving the problems faced by the people and ridding the country of the slavery of USA. The provincial chief of the Jamaat held the armed forces responsible for extra judicial killings and missing persons. He said people are respecting the forces but all institution should operate under thelaw and no institution should consider itself above the law, he said. The meeting also adopted a unanimous declaration to voice concern law and order situation, economic mess, load shedding and other burning problems faced by the people and the country. The three-page document stated that innocent people were continuously being killed in the US drone attacks in the tribal areas. So far 4000 tribal people have been killed in the 260 drone strikes, which are blatant violation of the international rules for war, sovereignty of the country and UN charter, the declaration said. The most sorrowful aspect of the issue is that the drones are being operated from Pakistani airports, it added. Equally deplorable is the fact that the unanimous resolution passed by the joint parliament in October 2008 seeking halt to the drone attacks and separation from the so-called war against terrorcould not be implemented despite lapse of three long years, the declaration further stated. According to the document the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has worsened, where hundreds of kidnapping gangs are busy in outlaw activities in an organized manner. The province has become an industrial graveyard where according to news reports 1200 industries are closed, the document stated. The declaration maintained that according to official statistics 35000 people have so far been killed in the war against terror. The meeting also expressed serious concern over the alleged corruption of the rulers, as according to the declaration annual corruption of the rulers has reached to Rs 1000 billion in the country.The declaration also showed serious concern over the statement of Awami National Party Chief AsfandyarWali Khan in Delhi regarding blasphemy law, stating the statement has harmed the sentiments of 180 million Pakistanis. The meeting also condemned the unbearable load shedding in the country. The declaration stated that the 20-hour long power outages have made life for the people miserable. The rulers have failed to do anything to overcome the worst energy crisis in the country during the last three years, which is an ample proof of the incapability and inefficiency of the rulers, it added.
