Jammu : In occupied Kashmir, five people were buried alive when a massive landslide hit their houses in Doda district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the landslides triggered by torrential rains hit three houses in Bhogal area of the district.
A constable of Indian police, Patdev Singh, was killed after he was washed away in flash floods when he was crossing the river Ujh in Kathua district. His body was later recovered from the river.
Heavy rains lashed wide parts of occupied Kashmir forcing temporary closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only road link of the valley to rest of the world. The rainfall along the highway caused landslides at Panthal resulting in its closure. Fresh snowfall has been reported from higher reaches of Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg areas. On the other hand, an Indian trooper was injured in a landmine blast in Poonch district. The blast occurred when the trooper, Sanjeev Patil, stepped on the landmine during patrolling inMendhar area of the district.
