NATO attack was pre-planned: DGMO

Islamabad: Director General of Military Operations Major General Ashfaq Nadeem said Thursday that attack on Salala check post was a pre-planned move and NATO helicopters continued firing till complete destruction of both the posts.

Briefing the Senate Committee for Defence at the Parliament House on Thursday, he said that Pakistan Army has established additional posts in the area to ensure the safety of the country.
The DGMO said that when NATO copters attacked Pakistani check posts, immediately US Embassy and Afghanistan were contacted, however no positive response received from both sides. “Pakistan was misguided at Border Coordination Center as NATO attacked on Salalah post but it was told that attack was conducted on Balkoni post”, the general added.
He said that the terrorists are not present on the mountains top but they are hidden in caves and homes It was well planned action as NATO forces simultaneously attacked on the Pakistan army posts as well as hideouts of terrorists.
He said Pak Army has not only expressed appropriate reaction on the NATO attacks but also evolved strategy that teeth broken reply would be given on any such type of action in future.
After the meeting the Chairman of the Standing Committee Lt.Gen(R) Javed Ashraf Qazi told the media that army officials gave detailed briefing on NATO attack. He said that all the facts releved that the attack was a deliberate act.
He said that Defence Committee of Senate condemned the assault and recommended the government to take every possible measure to guarantee the sovereignty of the country. Online
