EU envoy acknowledges Pak role in terror war

ISLAMABAD: The EU Ambassador-Head of EU Delegation to Pakistan Lar Gunnar Wigmark Thursday acknowledged Pakistan’s role in war against terror and urged for strong Pak-Afghan relations while talking with Senator Salim Saifullah Khan.

President Pakistan Muslim League and Chairman Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator Salim Saifullah Khan said that more than forty thousand Pakistanis have sacrificed their lives in war against terror and its economy has suffered more than 70 bi lion dollars.
He has highlighted that Pakistan is fighting this war for the sack of world peace and urged that international community should extend its full support to Pakistan to help its economy at this critical time. He has also urged the EU ambassador to play his active role for Pakistani products access to European Markets, as it would help the crippled economy of Pakistan.
He also showed confidence that Pakistan had full capability to come over its financial challenges with the support of international community not by aid but by trade. He showed his grave concern that Drone Technology was more serious threat to world peace and dangerous as compared to Nuclear Technology due to which the world was becoming unsafe place.
He said that EU and Pakistan enjoyed good bilateral relations however urged upon for further promotion of bilateral and trade relations. He told that Pakistan and Afghanistan lived together for centuries and their good relations were neither important for both the countries, but also for the whole region.
