All equal in eyes of Commission: Javed Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: The Abbottabad commission has stressed that everyone was equal in the eyes of the commission, and any body could/would be summoned for questioning.
Addressing press conference alongwith commission members in PID (Press Information Department) on Thursday, the head of the commission and former senior judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Javed Iqbal denied that the commission had ever delayed investigations of the commission.
He further deliberated that the US authorities had also been contacted for further information regarding Osama bin Laden compound, while he also assured that parliamentary committees, officials and media representatives would also be interviewed, regarding the issue.
It was also informed that, so far, 1000 witnesses, including journalists, former ministers, political and military elements, former ministers, diplomats, members of civil society and wives of Osama-Bin- Laden had been had been grilled; while the wives could be questioned again, if the need arose.

The chairman also appealed to general public to come forward and volunteer their statements for commission, assuring such volunteers of complete protection.
He also informed that the commission would also pinpoint any American CIA’s presence in Pakistan, and while informing about threats received, said that the commission would continue its work, undeterred.
The commission also visited the Osama bin Laden compound, Kala Dhaka and Torghar, and announced that the commission would complete its investigations during the ongoing month, and ensure the integrity and honor of Country, while compiling this report.
He also said that commission had already summoned Sheikh Rashid Ahmad since the politician had already made many disclosures about the Abbottabad commission in his TV talks.; while the commission could/would also summon Wajid Shams-ul-Hasan, if need arose.
The commission also studied the American helicopters’ route through which they successfully intruded Pakistan’s airspace.
It was also informed that recommendation had been made to make the finalized report public, and denied that there was any hindrance to make the report as public.
Declaring that no one was above law, the justice assured of complying fully with constitutional provisions, and informed that while President Asif Ali Zardari did enjoy immunity, he still had been sent a questionnaire in the capacity of co-chairman PPPP, and could be /would be summoned in the capacity as such.
It was also announced that Hussain Haqqani had been prodded regarding the issue of visas, and while answering a question said that Osama could have been arrested and tried in accordance with international laws, but decision made in haste resulted in an unnecessary adventurism; an issue being investigated as well.
