Selected ministers meet at presidency, discuss Haqqani, NRO issues

A meeting of some selected Federal Ministers and senior leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party was held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday.

The meeting chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusaf Raza Gilani was attended by Senator Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar, Mr. A. Rehman Malik, Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Syed Naveed Qamar, Dr. Babar Awan, Senator Jahangir Badar, Senator Faisal Raza Abidi, Senator Sardar Ali Khan, Mr. Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira, Raja Parvez Ashraf, Ms. Rukhsana Bangash, Ms. Fouzia Wahab, Ms. Fouzia Habib and Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar.
Briefing about the meeting Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said that overall political situation with particular reference to recent developments was discussed during the meeting.
The meeting noted that NRO related cases will come up for hearing before the Supreme Court on 21 November.
The meeting vowed to vigorously defend the sanctity of the graves of the Mother of Democracy Begum Nusrat Bhutto and the icon of democracy Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. It expressed the hope that the cry for justice rising from the grave of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in Garhi Khuda Baksh will also attract the attention of the independent judiciary.
The meeting noted that Ambassador Hussain Haqqani had been called to Islamabad to give his view point to the country’s leadership on the controversial memo. It observed that natural justice demanded that the Ambassador was given a fair opportunity to give his version of the controversy.
Situation in Sindh also came under discussion and the meeting reiterated that the policy of reconciliation will continue.
The meeting reposed full confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. SANA
