Political leaders and former army generals strongly condemned the NATO attack on Pakistani check posts and declared US responsible of the attack.
The leaders demanded to call at once the US ambassador in foreign
office and lodge a strong and effective protest. They said that
government should talk to US officials in strict stance and attack
should be responded with the same attack.
These leaders further said that if government assures the
implementation of parliamentary resolutions and took strict action
against US operation in Abbotabad on May 02, 2011 which killed Osama Bin
Laden then this day would not have been faced. The leaders demanded to
take up the matter in the United Nations Security Council.
President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Mian Nawaz Sharif
strongly condemned the NATO attack and termed it a terrorist action. He
said that NATO forces violated the sovereignty of Pakistan. He further
said that the whole Pakistani Nation demanded to implement the
parliamentary resolutions but government didn’t take it seriously. He
said that those leaders who don’t give respect to the opinions of
parliament then how one can expect about good posture from them.
Parliamentary leader of Jamaat-e-Islami in the Senate Professor
Khurshid Ahmad said that drones and NATO attacks are against the
sovereignty of Pakistan. These attacks are beyond law and government
should lodge a strict protest against these attacks. He said that they
have taken up the drones issue before the parliamentary committee on
National Security and how long we face these attacks. Government should
restrain from customary protest and the response of missile should be
given with missile and drones should be targeted. He further said that
government has lost its writ and the only solution of these matters is
to consult the general public for fresh mandate.
PML (N) leader Ayaz Ameer said that leaders remain only with
customary protest and therefore these situations arise. Government
should adopt strict stance. He further said that not only to call the US
ambassador but also clearly informed the officials of US defense who
called on GHQ and other places, that these attacks are not acceptable at
any cost. These US officials must be informed that if Pakistani
helicopters enter the territory of Afghanistan then what would be their
response.
Former head of ISI Gen (retd) Hameed Gul said that reasons of these
repeated attacks are that “we reached US for all sorts of support”. He
said that apart from the military institutions US also wants to target
our nuclear capability. The main target of US is Pakistan but not the
government. Government should not only suspend the NATO supply but also
cut the supply facility which has been to Afghanistan through India. He
said that Pakistan should get back its decision regarding India which
has been given the status of most favored nation for trade on US
pressure. To address these issues there must be take democratic steps
and all political parties should keep aside their personal conflicts and
must be unite for the sake of Pakistan.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hassan expressed his profound grief
over the martyrdom of Pakistani security personnel and strongly
condemned the NATO helicopters attack on Pakistani check post. He termed
the incident “the worst” of its kind and said that this attack was
tantamount to a direct attack on Pakistan’s security and sovereignty.
He said that government should not only lodge a protest but also cut
all NATO supply lines and also declare the separation from the on going
war on terror.
He demanded the government to get the Pakistani air bases vacated at
once from the US forces He further said that if government will remain
silent over these attacks then tomorrow these attacks may happen with
our nuclear programme, for that US has started its so called war on
terror. According to him Pakistan should take serious notice of the
incident and draw a future line of action to check such incidents in
future.
Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan also strongly condemned
the NATO helicopters attack on Salala Check Post in the Momand Agency
that resulted in the death of twenty security personnel. He termed it an
insane and immoral brutality. He said that these attacks reflected the
hollowness and counter-productivity of Pakistan’s involvement in the
aimless ‘war on terror’ that had been unleashed to subdue the proud
people of the region. According to him Pakistan had sacrificed 40,000
people and an equal number of people had been disabled and become
incapacitated. Pakistan had also incurred a loss of over US$ 75 billion
in the bargain, yet it was being incessantly targeted by the forces of
its so-called ‘ally’.
Imran Khan said that Pakistan’s involvement in the war had
radicalized its society and it injected anti-Americanism. He said that
time had come for the government to pull out of this inhuman conflict
and start a meaningful dialogue to bring peace in the country and the
region. He further said that the continued involvement in this war would
only produce more militancy and destruction. SANA
