28 security personnel martyred in NATO attack on two Pak security check posts in Mohmad; Pak govt stops NATO supply

At least 28 security personnel martyred including a major and captain and 15 others injured in result of unprovoked and indiscriminate firing on two check posts at Salala area adjacent to Pak-Afghan boarder at Mohmand agency by NATO helicopters; meanwhile reacting to the attack Pakistan stopped the supply of NATO and recorded a formal protest to United States.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while severely protesting on the incident termed it as violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty.
According to security sources, the NATO forces attacked two Pakistani check posts in the midnight of Friday and Saturday at the Baizai area, located 50 km far from the headquarter of Mohmand Agency, as a result of which a number of security personnel martyred and several others injured; meanwhile the injured personnel were shifter to Peshawar by using helicopters.
Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) sources confirmed the attack and said that the NATO forces unprovoked attack on the Pakistani check posts in the night.
A private TV channel quoting the sources of ISPR said that the incident happened on the dawn of Saturday and according to sources 28 security personnel were martyred named as Major Mujahid ,Captain Usman, Sobidar Mannan, Lance Naik Raza Muhammad, Lance Naik Tariq Mehmood, Hawaldar Mumtaz, Hawaladar Aslam, Hawaldar Mushtaq and corps Including Naeem, Imran Yousuf, Rizwan, Ghulam Abbas, Abdul Razzaq, Hafiz Manzoor, Asghar Abbas, Ahmad Khurshid, Ibrahim, Tariqq Mehmood, Nasir Mehmood, Karamat Ali, Najeebullah and Tahir Mehmood..
Due to far flung and boarder areas the access is possible by pony and helicopters and the Afghan province Kunar is located on the other side of check post which was attacked by NATO forces and Khaga Khel tribe is residing on both sides of the boarder.
According to “BBC” a high military official in Peshawar said that the incident happen in the dawn of Saturday and these are the check posts which are established to stop the terrorism, adding that the casualties occurred and the check post are located at far flung areas. The backup forces reached on the check posts and started rescue operation, he added.
He said that both check posts were completely destroyed in the incident, adding that the official said that he was not aware of the reaction from Pakistan army over the incident.
On the other hand, the representative of NATO forces at Afghanistan said that NATO is investigating into the issue of attack.
It is worth mentioning here that before this the NATO planes conduct actions inside Pakistan as a result of which a number of security personnel and innocent civilians were killed, while some days ago the NATO planes targeted a house in the headquarter of South Waziristan Agency Wana and killed 21 people including kids and women.
On the other hand, the government shuts the supply of NATO protesting to the attack on the Pakistani check posts and directed the political agents to shut the supply of NATO.
According to a private TV channel, the high government officials directed the political administration of tribal areas to shut the NATO supply till further orders in response to the attack on check post at Mohmand Agency, adding that order to stop the NATO supply containers on the current status and supply remain stopped to Afghanistan from Monday.
On the other hand, Masood Kasur, the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province while severely protesting over the incident said that “This is an attack on Pakistan’s territorial sovereignty and such cross-border attacks cannot be tolerated any more. The government will take up this matter at the highest level and it will be investigated.”
Meanwhile Pakistan has lodged a strong formal protest with the United States over the unprovoked helicopter shelling by NATO forces on a check post in Salala in Momand Agency.
       
Spokesperson of the Foreign Office Tehmeena Janjua said in an interview in Islamabad that a strong protest was lodged with the US State Office in Washington.   She said the situation is being reviewed.
Meanwhile on the other hand, the acting Pakistani Ambassador to United States Iffat Imran Gardezi lodged a protest in the mid night to the US officials over the unprovoked helicopter shelling by NATO forces on a check post in Salala in Momand Agency.
       
She said that helicopters and missiles were used in the attack and showed concerns that the war on terrorism would be affected by this attack; meanwhile on the other hand the US officials cannot issue any statement over the attack. SANA
