I have vowed to establish peace in Karachi: Rehman Malik

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that he has vowed to bring peace in Karachi.

“Certain elements claimed that government had failed to establish peace in Karachi and Karachi should be handed over to the Army. But situation has changed now and peace stands prevailed therein now. What promise was made by him has been delivered. We all are brothers and we are Pakistanis first”, Interior minister said this while talking to media persons here Saturday after his visit to FIA headquarters.
Rehman Malik said that he had no personal grudge with Bashir Qureshi, chairman of JSQM nor he was behind his arrest. If Azhar Bashir Qureshi says so then the judicial inquiry can be held in this respect, he underlined. Doors to superior judiciary are also opened to him, he added. More steps will be initiated to improve the performance of FIA and competent lawyers will be included in legal branch of FIA, he pointed out. He indicated that Taliban and other terrorist organisations were sharing intelligence through Internet. Curbing these activities was imperative, he observed. Measures will be taken in this connection, he told.
Regarding investigation into killing of former minister Shahbaz Bhatti he said two people allegedly involved in his killing were at UEA and government was in contact with Interpol for their arrest.
Citing to statement of Maulana Fazlur Rehman he said JUI-F chief had not given such statement wherein the former had declared him agent of CIA. JUI-F chief had already clarified his statement, he told. “I am considering suing against media group which is behind character assassination campaign against me”, he declared. Online
