Malik gives 24-hour deadline to kidnappers in Karachi

KARACHI: Interior Minister Rehman Malik Friday directed the security forces to get ready for final operation against the terrorists and kidnappers in various localities of the city.

He was addressing a press conference after attending a meeting on law and situation in Karachi. Talking to media men Rehman Malik said he had given a 24-hour deadline to the abductors and kidnapping mafia to release the innocent persons or face action by the law-enforcement agencies.
Malik admitted that situation in Karachi was quite complex and both the federal and the provincial governments were grappling with the situation. He assured the media that all steps would be taken to bring back normalcy to the city of lights. “The security agencies have been directed to prepare a roadmap for action against kidnappers, militants, target killers, miscreants and terrorists,” he said. The interior minister told the journalists on the occasion that after rangers and police, coastguards would be called in the city to take decisive action against the target killers.
He hoped by Saturday afternoon (today) the situation would return to normalcy. He also shared with the media the good news that 18 kidnapped persons had been released by the kidnappers and sent home. Online
