Dengue fever outbreak in Punjab: Shahbaz warns health teams against laxity

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that control of dengue virus is the collective responsibility of Punjab government and other departments concerned and no leniency will be shown towards any laxity in this regard.
He directed that heads of health, local government and other departments concerned should personally supervise the campaign against dengue virus and take it up as a challenge.

He was presiding over a meeting to review measures for controlling dengue virus, here today. Members Provincial Assembly Dr. Tahir Ali Javed, Dr. Saeed Elahi, Dr. Asad Ashraf, Secretary Health, Director General Health, Secretary Local Government, District Coordination Officer Lahore and officers concerned were present. Secretary Health Jehanzeb Khan gave a detailed briefing regarding the measures against dengue virus.
The Chief Minister directed that special teams should be formed for fogging and this process should not be limited only to the areas where dengue cases have been detected. He said that political workers, students and other segments of the society should be mobilized for this purpose. He directed that a report should be submitted to him in this regard on daily basis.
