FBR hurdle in expanding tax net: PEW

The President of Pakistan Economy Watch Dr Ghulam Murtaza Mughal has said that the Federal Board of Revenue is the biggest hurdle in expansion in tax net. He said that the dissatisfaction is at its highest point in the Pakistani masses and international organizations on FBR and it is alarming situation for Pakistan.

He said that the FBR has been failed many times in management, discipline and transparency and now the people are ready to give bribery but they are not agree to pay tax.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said that the tax paying people know that their tax would not be used for development of the country; rather it would be used for the luxuries of the officers of FBR and the rulers.
He said that the honest tax payer is frightened from the officials of the FBR and he wastes all his time to make plans how he can save himself from them, it is a reason that our economy is not moving on the way of prosperity.
Dr Ghulam Murtaza said that the endless corruption is the fame of FBR. He said that the advances of the corruption of FBR are presented in the Public Accounts Committee from the Auditor General of Pakistan. According to the reports of auditor general the FBR wasted billions of rupees every year but higher authorities always keep mum over the issue.
He said that the fake claims of collection of record tax and achieving the targets of FBR are the question mark on the credibility of this institute. He said that laws about the tax would only benefit Pakistan when the confidence of masses would be restored on the institutions responsible for collection of tax. SANA
