Telephone lines on nine zero disconnected due to technical fault: Rehman Malik

Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the disconnection of telephones lines of MQM’s headquarters was due to technical reasons, adding that the government does not believe in using these kind of tactics.

He said that MQM should continue supporting the government for maintaining the peace of the city, adding that the MQM supported PPP in difficult times and it is the desire of the PPP leadership to continue friendship with MQM.
He was addressing the media after attending a meeting at National Crisis Management Cell here on Monday.
The Interior Minister said he had been directed by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to work with the MQM to restore peace in the city.
He added that if there were any differences between the PPP and MQM on the commissionerate system, then those would be resolved through talks.
He said that the enforcement of the commissionerate system after the collapse of police order has become the obligation under the constitution, adding that in three provinces this system already has been enforced.
He said that the clapping is only possible with both hands and could not be done with one hand, adding that PPP could agree on some give and take regarding the enforcement of coomissionerate system.
He said that some committee for this purpose could also be formed, adding that PPP is ready to continue the reconciliation policy and I am ready to go anywhere for talking with the MQM friends.
Speaking on the security situation in Karachi, he said that those who commit acts of terrorism are helping the Taliban and soon 500 rangers and FC personnel would reach the city.
He also summoned the report on the disconnection of MQM head quarter Nine Zero’s telephone lines.
“Our MQM friends have misunderstood we want to continue our relations with MQM,” Malik said while speaking to media persons in Karachi.
Malik also said that there will be no exceptions for the terrorists and miscreants, adding that the action against the miscreants would be taken indiscriminately.
He said that I ask the confronting groups in Liari to stop the fight, adding that if they would fail to implement orders police would arrest them and they would be brought into the court of justice.
He said that the restoration of peace is not only the responsibility of rangers and police but masses should also have to support the security forces for this purpose.
Answering a question regarding the ill-treatment of the senior provincial minister Zulfiqar Mirza with a private TV channel reporter, Rehman Malik said that the media and politicians should respect each other we would have to move forward jointly and media should play positive role and should not behave like fanning the issue.
He said that all the political parties should have to work jointly for the restoration of peace in the Karachi, adding that the action would be taken against the persons who owned illegal weapons.
He said the law and order situation have improved in Karachi after the measures of the government in this regard. SANA
