Pakistan's Punjab police have failed to submit complete charge-sheets in 18 out of 27 high-profile terrorism cases before anti-terrorism courts even after a lapse of 13 years, new documents have revealed.
According to the documents, the incidents of terrorism and sectarian violence occurred between June 21, 1998, and April 3 this year.
The cases are still pending in 14 anti-terrorism courts across the province.
It also revealed that incidents of terrorism have claimed lives of as many as 303 people, including 10 army officials, dozens of FIA officials and police officers, The Express Tribune reports.
Out of a total of 1,719 witnesses, only 238 were examined, while 32 witnesses withdrew their earlier testimonies.
Notable pending cases include the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team, terror attack in Gujranwala, the assassination attempt on former President Pervez Musharraf and the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. ANI
