JACPAIE reacts strongly to meager increment in employees’ salaries

ISLAMABAD: Joint Action Committee of PIA Employees (JACPIAE) during an emergency meeting has termed the increase of only 10-20 per cent in salaries as meager and a pathetic joke with emotions of PIA employees in time ever-escalating inflation.

In a statement issued here on Monday, JACPIE expressed its severe reservations on PIA Board of Directors’ decision and demanded 100 per cent raise in salaries as the salaries of employees working in public and semi-public sector have been increased by 80 percent in past two years even though their organization have been incurring losses.
The statement said that it is not only unjustified to use PIA financial losses as a shield to ignore the financial needs of PIA employees when the inflation is rising at rapid pace but it is also a violation of human rights to deprive them of their due share in terms of satisfactory salaries.
ACPAIE further demanded the PIA administration to review and increase the pension of retired PIA employees besides making daily-wages employees permanent who are working in PIA for many years hoping to get permanent. Online
