PAF was airborne after detecting American incursion: Air Marshal Hasan

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Air Marshal Muhammad Hasan has said that PAF aircraft immediately took off after receiving news of unusual air activity within its borders on 02 May 2011.

Sources informed Online that during the commission hearings, chaired by senior Judge of Supreme Court, Justice Javed Iqbal in the Cabinet Division and also including former I.G Abbas Khan, Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, and Lt. Gen (R) Nadeem Ahmad Khan the PAF defense officials briefed the commission about the functioning of the radar system and its limitations to sense special aircraft, designed/ and functional in stealth mode.
The official(s) deliberated a detailed functioning of low and high altitude radars of PAF and their operational mechanism; both during war and peace times.
He informed the commission, that the radar system was fully functional/ operational and was functioning normally; however the commission was also briefed about the limitations of radar system in difficult and complex mountainous terrain.
He also impressed the fact upon the commission that America used its sole global invention of specially designed helicopters, assembled in stealth mode, making it impossible for radars to detect them.
The Air deputy chief also assured the commission regarding the vigilance and alertness of PAF in order to deter any evil designs against National borders.
Sources also informed that the commission also questioned PAF officials over PAF’s responding strategy over the 02 May intrusion, which the deputy Air Marshal elaborated.
The commission has summoned its next hearing on 18th July, during which DG military operations Maj Gen Ashfaq Nadeem would elaborate ground realities to the commission. Online
