PPP with 29 seats in AJK needs no alliance to form govt

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leading in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly with 29 seats after election on the reserved seats and could form government alone.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stands at 1st with 29 seats, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with 12 seats on 2nd position, All Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference with 5 seats on 3rd position and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) with 2 seats on 4th position, after elections on reserved seats of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly.
Resultantly, PPP has become the main party having majority in the AJK Legislative Assembly. Therefore, PPP could form a government in AJK alone without any alliance. While PML-N would be a strong key opposition party in the Legislative Assembly.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has felicitated the PPP candidates on winning the six out of eight reserved seats in the elections of AJK Legislative Assembly here on Sunday.
In his message of congratulations, the Prime Minister said that the victory of PPP candidates in majority in the elections was a manifestation of the confidence reposed by the people in their policies.
He hoped that the newly elected members of the AJK legislative Assembly will serve the people by discharging the entrusted responsibilities with devotion, and national sprit for solving their problems and ushering progress and prosperity of the country. Online
