Qaim, Rehman Malik review law, order situation in Karachi

KARACHI: A high level meeting was held on Sunday at the Chief Minister’s House to review the law and order situation particularly in Karachi. The meeting was co-chaired by Chief Minister, Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Sindh Abdus Subhan Memon, I.G. Police Sindh Mr. Wajid Ali Durrani, Acting Director General, Sindh Rangers Brig. Zafar Iqbal, Acting CCPO, Karachi Iqbal Mehmood, Special Secretary (Home), Sindh Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sindh.Alam din Bullo.
The meeting was given briefing on PNS Mehran and Saudi Consulate incidents and necessary satisfaction was shown on the progress of both incidents. Inspector General Police Sindh was instructed to complete the investigation as early as possible. The meeting also appreciated the professional work done by Sindh Rangers and Sindh Police, and appreciated the sacrifices given by Rangers and Police for maintaining of law and order in Karachi.
It was observed that one incident by individuals of Sindh Rangers should not be generalized and strength of Sindh Rangers should not be hit by one incident. The meeting also observed that there were some misreporting in the media, and some certain irresponsible statements from some quarters against Sindh Rangers.
It was assured that the requirements of Sindh Rangers shall be met by Sindh Government for maintenance of law & order in the province. Chief Minister Sindh appreciated the efforts of Federal Interior Minister for his active role and support in terms of intelligence and the availability of Sindh Rangers to the Government of Sindh for maintaining of law and order. The role of jawans of Sindh Rangers was also appreciated in the meeting for their work and performance on various incidents in Sindh province.
The meeting also praised the martyrdom of three personals of Sindh Rangers in the hands of criminals and observed that Sindh Rangers will continue to remain in the building of Sindh Rangers Headquarters.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah also very graciously announced “Shuhada fund” for the law enforcement agencies, police and Rangers. Sindh Rangers and Police were directed in the meeting to increase their patrolling in Karachi, while the action will continue with full force against criminals. The meeting also directed the I.G. Police Sindh to enhance the community interaction, and flag marches within the troubled areas, which should be made as a regular feature, while patrolling should be increased in those troubled areas, with action on the real time intelligence should be taken promptly.
It was also directed that the pending cases against the criminals in various Police Stations be finalized and challans be submitted in relevant courts immediately. It was also directed that the concerned SHO’s should identify the criminals and their activities in their areas, while stringent action should be taken against them.
It was further decided that the Rangers and Police should provide a joint strategy to ensure transparent and trouble free election of AJK Assembly seats in Sindh. It has also decided that Rangers will be deployed on the polling stations to ensure fair and transparent elections without any interference; while the media will also be permitted to monitor the activities of the voters around the polling stations. It was reaffirmed in the meeting that the Election Commission of Pakistan will be provided full assistance as per their requirements to make the election free, fair and transparent. Online
