Karachi: Target killing claims 12 more lives, 8 injured

KARACHI: The ongoing spate of target killing claimed 12 more lives and eight sustained injuries including a woman in separate incidents across the city despite the arrival of Interior Minister Rehman Malik here on Sunday.

Three corpses were recovered which were wrapped in sacks in an area of Liyari near Grass Mandi Ramzan Kanta, the deceased were supposed to be killed by firing and torturing. Police shifted the dead bodies to Civil Hospital for autopsy; however, the deceased could not be identified.
Police found another 5 corpses, from each area of the city including Kharadar Kukari Ground located in the jurisdiction of Kalri Police Station, Mohammadi Masjid located in the limits of Peerabad Police Station, in an area of New Golimar located in the jurisdiction of Gulbahar Police Station, near Coastal area of Bahria Complex and a dead body of a woman from Manzoor Colony located in the jurisdiction of Baloch Police Station. While police has shifted all the deceased to hospitals for autopsy.
Police sources told that all of these 5 corpses could not be identified due to severe injuries and mutilated bodies.
While unidentified gunmen killed Muhmmad Rafique near Ghosia Mosque in Liyari Agra Taj located in the limits of Kalri Police Station. The corpse was shifted to Civil Hospital for autopsy and police registered case against the unknown persons for further inquiry. Unknown persons opened firing on Hussain Munna 45 near Kraila Stop located in the jurisdiction of New Karachi Industrial Area Police Station. The dead body of was transferred to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem examination.
In another incident, unknown armed men killed Karim Bux by firing near Northern By-Pass located in the jurisdiction of Mangu Pir police station. The corpse was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed hospital for autopsy.
Meanwhile, anonymous gunmen in Chakiwara of Liyari opened discriminate firing and killed a person named Imam Bux and other 7 sustained injuries. Police shifted the corpse and injured to Civil Hospital for necropsy and medical treatment. According to police the later the incident fear and panic spread in the respective area.
