ISLAMABAD: Zafarullah Khan, Inspector General, National Highways
& Motorway Police, has said that NH&MP is creating road safety
awareness among masses.
Addressing the officers on inaugural
ceremony of NH&MP dispensary at NH&MP Lines HQ, Islamabad, he
said that NH&MP have taken numerous measures to reduce accidents.
This
has resulted more than 70% reduction in accident rate. He said that by
abiding the traffic rules and to follow the road safety precautionary
measures we save not only their own lives but also the lives of others
who are using the road either as a pedestrian or as a driver/commuter.
He
said that motorway police has recently established its own accident
investigation unit to prevent accidents. This unit will investigate all
the accidents and then decide the cause of accident with measures and
submit its report to road safety wing to overcome these accidents in
future.
He said that as per a survey in all over the world most
of deaths happened due to different diseases, whereas, death ratio
regarding accidents is at number 8. As per report of the United Nations
in future if not taken any precautionary measure to prevent these
accidents, the death rating due to accidents will stand at number 3. He
said that all NH&MP patrolling officer got first aid training from
big hospitals of the country, in case of any misshape NH&MP officer
provide first aid and save their precious lives.
