KP govt to challenge swelling power tariff

Peshawar: Provincial government has rejected the enhancing power tariff and has decided to move the court against the increase of electricity prices.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government constituted a panel of legal experts which would file a writ petition in the apex judiciary to challenge the rise in the price of electricity.
Earlier the provincial government had also submitted an application in National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) against the price hike of electricity in which it took plea that the province is already affected by the terrorism badly and increasing power tariff would add the suffering of the people . It was also mentioned in the appeal that there are enough resources of generating electricity in the province and the provincial government is also producing electricity. So the increase in KP would be unjust.
It is pertinent to mention here that provincial government also knocked the door of Peshawar High Court in the past against the increase in power tariff . The case had been under hearing for almost two years. Online
