Pakistan beefs up security along Afghan border

ISLAMABAD: To stop the growing threats of attacks from Afghanistan’s side, for the first time Pakistan army troops have been deployed in Chitral and Dir along Afghan border.

Talking to Online, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Athar Abbas said Tuesday that concrete steps are being taken to retaliate attacks of terrorists from Afghanistan side on Pakistani territory.
He said that for the first time Pakistan army has been deployed with FC men along Afghan border in check posts in Chitral and Dir to combat attacks on Pakistani territory by terrorists from Afghanistan side.
The DG ISPR added that steps were also taken to strengthen check posts along the border.
It is pertinent to mention, that several incidents of organized attacks were carried out reportedly by militants from Afghanistan side against the check post in Dir and Chitral in last couple of months and Pakistan had warned of full-fledge retaliation if the attacks continued. Online
