ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has maintained irregularities and corruption prevail everywhere but the courts are maligned.
A
3-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan
(CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry gave these remarks during the course of
hearing of irregular allotment of official residences by state office
in Islamabad here Tuesday.
Ahsan Naeem, Joint state officer of
State Office told the court on behalf of ministry of housing that state
office had total 17000 houses while about 20000 applications were there
on general waiting list.
CJP remarked allotment made out of
turn was a sheer breach of law. Such details be provided to the court.
House is allotted forthwith to those who have access to minister or
advisor and those who are not influential persons are left helpless.
Transparency should be ensured in allotment of houses. If a house is
allotted to some one then this house is transferred by father to son and
son to his son, he observed. System had lost its confidence due to this
wrong practices, he said.
Assistant State Officer told the
court he had also been allotted house out of turn. SC has sought details
of the houses, which has been allotted out of turn. Online
