KABUL: The Ministry of Energy and Water on Monday announced that the
World Bank has donated $97m for various irrigation projects across the
country.
The projects, including construction of canals and
water dams, will be implemented in next six years. The projects will
develop agriculture industry in the country. "These water management
projects are very important," said Acting-Minister of Energy and Water.
World Bank’s Representative in South Asia, John Henry Stien,
said his organisation remains supportive of Afghanistan’s priorities
for economic development - one of them irrigation projects.
Previously, the World Bank had donated more than $100m to the ministry of energy and water for emergency renovation of dams. Online
