PPP, MQM, ANP, Sunni Tehreek, PPP Shaheed Bhutto Group, MQM Haqqiqi & banned outfits involved in extortion in Karachi: Asima

Supreme Court Bar Association President Asma Jahangir has said that PPP, MQM, ANP, Sunni Tehreek, PPP Shaheed Bhutto Group, MQM Haqqiqi and banned outfits are involved in extortion in Karachi, adding that in the intelligence reports of the secret agencies everything about the responsible persons is given.

Speaking outside the Supreme Court Karachi Registry, Jehangir said intelligence agencies have the list of criminals and their addresses.
She said that the bar association does not represent any political party and it will continue to play its due role without any fear and favor.
She expressed concerns over the prevailing situation in Karachi and said police should be depoliticized to improve the situation in the provincial metropolis.
Asma Jehangir also urged the media to avoid sensationalism on the Karachi situation, adding that the SCBA would not allow anyone to use Supreme Court as political battle field in Karachi target killing case.
She said that it is not the duty of the Supreme Court to establish peace in Karachi, adding that if the government fails to perform its duty the court could not do anything regarding the matter.
She said that the SCBA would inform the Supreme Court regarding the suo motu notice on the Karachi situation, adding that the political parties which want to become party in the suo motu notice should have to explain the fundamental right in the case.
She said that media should avoid sensationalism while reporting Karachi incidents, adding that SCBA is in favor of independence of media and people’s right to access to information, adding that the PEMRA should play its due role during the current situation. SANA
