Shahbaz says dengue mosquito to be killed at all costs

Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that if the dengue mosquito would not be killed from medicines it would have to be killed from the canons of army.

Talking to media persons on the occasion of his visit to Samanabad, Shahbaz Sharif said that the dengue mosquito has become more powerful than government, adding that the government would not sit silently until the rooting out of the dengue mosquito.
He said that the dengue fever has created panic among the Lajoriites, adding that if the elected representatives would not support masses today the masses should not vote for them again.
He said that president asif ali Zardari is keeping the responsibility of destroying Pakistan, adding that the destruction is coming from the mountains it sould have to be ended through collective efforts.
Meanwhile the Government of Punjab on Friday declared a state of medical emergency in Lahore due to dengue outbreak.
The government cancelled leaves of workers of WASA, district government and health department.
All three departments have been asked to submit progress reports to the Chief Minister on daily basis. More doctors have been appointed in hospitals of Lahore.
In other measures, the provincial government has placed a ban on morning assembly in all state-run and private schools.
Punjab’s Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed health officials not to hesitate in importing medicines and tools to contain the mosquito-borne virus if situation demands.
People have complained that substandard spray has failed to halt the dengue outbreak.
The chief minister chaired the special committee meeting at the Chief Minister Secretariat, Lahore. The committee has been formed to control the spread of Dengue virus.
Shahbaz said that every life was precious to him and ordered the authorities concerned to import the vaccination and apparatus immediately if needed to overcome Dengue.
The provincial government has established a helpline for providing awareness to the people about Dengue.
The chief minister issued instructions that an effective strategy would be adopted to fumigate insecticide.
According to statistics of the Health Department the number of Dengue patients has soared to over 2,100 including 2,042 in Lahore alone. Eleven people have died from Dengue in Lahore including 32-year old Atif who succumbed at Jinnah Hospital.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has asked the hositals to make arrangements on emergency footing. He has also asked them to acquire more platelets-producing machines.
Meanwhile, the failure to get admitted in hospitals is causing extreme anxiety to Dengue patients. Even patients in precarious conditions are unable to get admitted in to the hospitals.
Extended rains and errant spray mosquito-destroying spray are also letting the Dengue mosquitoes to keep on multiplying rapidly.
Morning assemblies in all the schools of the Punjab province have been banned due to dengue threat.
The order of the ban will urgently come into force on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
According to Punjab Education Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, all the government and private school managements have been directed to spray insecticides and action would be taken against the management of any school who will not follow the directions.
National Health Department reported that 2413 dengue cases have been confirmed across the country.
According to the National Health Department’s report, total 2708 dengue patients have been admitted so far and dengue virus has been confirmed in 2413 cases.
In Punjab, 2170 dengue cases have been confirmed and 28 cases have been reported from Islamabad. The report further disclosed that 26 dengue cases were registered from Rawalpindi while 176 cases were registered in Sindh.
Moreover, 8 dengue cases were confirmed in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and 5 cases were reported in AJK. According to the report, so far 5 people died due to dengue fever. SANA
