ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has directed
Planning Commission (PC) to complete all ongoing development projects
within available resources soon and evolve better mechanism to keep
check and balance on them.
PM said this during his meeting with
PC authorities on Friday. He held enormous public fund is spent on
these uplift projects and development works are not executed in better
way due to lack of proper monitoring.
PM directed the concerned
authorities more 2.5 billion rupees be earmarked for Balochistan in
line with the requirements of province and water supply project in
Quetta be completed on priority basis. The ongoing development projects
be reviewed in interaction with all provincial governments, he
stressed.
PM directed PC and ministry of finance that awareness
be created through media about the projects which have been completed
and are aimed at ameliorating the lot of people so that they could
benefit from them in better way.
He urged finance ministry to release PSDP funds in time so that the ongoing development projects could not be affected.
Giving
briefing to PM, Deputy Chairman PC and secretary planning division said
several projects pertaining to health, education, water supply and
construction of roads had been completed in Dera Bugti, Kohlo and South
Punjab.
PC authorities told PM ongoing development projects
would be completed in time and all the required resources were
available for them. 6 percent funds had been allocated for new schemes,
they informed.
Finance Minister Abdul Hafiz Sheikh, Deputy
Chairman PC, Nadim ul Haq, chairman National High Way and other senior
