ISLAMABAD: Iqbal Haider – the former law minister has said that that there were no Prisoners of War (PoWs) languishing in Pakistan jails.
According to the media reports, the former minister informed this on sidelines of the meeting with the kin of Indian prisoners in Pakistan jails. Even though the city-based human rights activist M K Paul, working towards tracing the missing Indian defence personnel for more than three decades, submitted a list of 54 Indian PoWs from 1971 war, Haider maintained that there are no Indian PoWs in Pakistan jails.
He further stated that currently they had no prisoners of war in Pakistan jails. But if anyone has detailed information about the PoWs, they would find out the truth and try to release them.
A four-member delegation from Pakistan, led by Haider, is in India to meet the kin of Indian prisoners in Pakistan. The delegation also comprises former Pakistan Supreme Court Justice Naseer Aslam Jahaid, Karamat Ali and Mohmmad Ali Shah, both, members of Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum. Online
