India should use its influence to resolve Palestinians fate

New Delhi: A memorandum on behalf of a group of organisations and political parties has been submitted to the Minister of External Affairs S. M. Krishna requesting him to take positive action for recognition of Palestine as a sovereign state.

The organisations emphasized that establishment of the sovereign state is the only solution to the problems of Palestine including West bank, Gaza strip and Jerusalem usurped by Israel in 1967, says a press release received here Sunday.
The signatories expressed their anxiety that after hundreds of resolutions passed by UN forums, international and regional summits and bilateral agreements between Israel and Palestine Authorities, Israel is still occupying these areas.
The signatories requested the Government of India to use its influence as an emerging economic and political power to gather support for the Palestine cause and make the impending effort successful.
The signatories were Nusrat Ali, Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan, president All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawerat, Atul Anjan, Secretary CPI, Mufti Mukarram Ahmed, Shahi Imam Masjid Fatehpuri, Mouji Khan, Secretary All India Milli Council, Dr. S.Q.R.Ilyas, General Secretary Welfare Party of India, Asghar Ali Imam Mehdi, General Secretary Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e- Hadith and Abdul Khaliq, Secretary Lok Jan shakti Party.
