5 injured in hotel blast

ISLAMABAD: Five persons including two women were injured in an alleged gas cylinder explosion at a local hotel of Blue Area, Islamabad on Thursday.

Media reports said that the explosion occurred in the upper storey of a local hotel on Thursday night; and was so severe that it was heard far away, breaking windowpanes of nearby buildings.
Media also reported that there were 50 persons in the hotel at the time of explosion, and the five injured have been shifted to PIMS (Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences), where emergency was proclaimed.
Security and law enforcement personnel arrived promptly at the scene of the explosion and cordoned of the area. The Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Bin Yamin also reached the spot and said that the explosion had been caused by gas cylinder and not by any explosives. Interior Minister Rehman Malik also reached the site and surveyed the damage, besides enquiring after the health of the injured persons. Among those injured include, Kamran Rafiq, Arifa, daughter of Hussain Shah, Zeenat Bibi, wife of Hussain Shah of Hangu district while the fourth wounded lady is Naseem Bibi, wife of Gul Zaman from Kohat.
