LAHORE: Sahahbaz Taseer, son of slain ex-governor Punjab Salman Taseer has been abducted from Lahore’s Gulburg area on Friday.
According
to initial Reports, son of Taseer was traveling with his friend when
four armed men abducted them on gunpoint and later released Shahbaz’s
friend.
Shahbaz’s friend later informed the police about the kidnap.
According to eyewitnesses four bearded kidnappers were riding motorbikes while some were in a red car.
Police
said that Shahbaz was traveling by his car (Number LZT 1) without his
personal security guards at the time of his abduction.
Passport and other important documents were recovered from Taseer’s car.
SSP Abdul Razzak Cheema says that police are investigating the kidnapping.
It
may be pertinent to mention that Shahbaz’s father Salman Taseer was
killed by his own guard for alleged blasphemous remarks. His assassin,
Mumtaz Qadri, is still in police custody. The police have also
confirmed that his phone has been switched off. The police have not
given any detail about the motives of kidnappers till the filing of
this report.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has
taken notice of the incident and have directed for all possible action
for early recovery of Shahbaz Taseer. Online
