Complete independence of Palestine Abbas to take up issue at UN on September 28: Ambassador

ISLAMABAD: Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan Hazem Hussain Abu Shanab Friday said that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas would take the issue of independent Palestine to the United Nation on September 28.

He was addressing a conference on ‘Interfaith harmony’ held to mark Yumul Quds here at the National Press Club on the last Friday of the month of Ramzan (Juma’a-tul-Wida).
The ambassador said that Palestine would apply for membership in the UN and it is the will of the people of the country.
“Let us see now who uses veto against democracy, justice, human rights and will of the demo,” he said, adding that no veto would be acceptable in this connection.
However, Abu Shanab made it clear that no one would halt independent Palestine as all the countries including major powers in the world are supporting the cause of Palestine. “People from Pakistan would enjoy Iftari next year at my home in Jerusalem, Insha Allah,” he said.
He said that Christians, Sikhs, Muslims and all the communities in the world respected Jerusalem as capital of Palestine, therefore, Israel should have no doubt in mind that Baitul Muqadas belongs to Palestine.
He said that Israelis were thinking that next generations of Palestinians would forget about Palestine and history. “This is the fourth or fifth generation, since occupation of Israel, that is still keeping alive voice for their motherland,” he said.
Deputy Cultural Councilor of Iran embassy Ali Dosti, Allama Shabbir Muhammad Mughul, Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi, Dr. Nazeer Hussain of Quaid-i-Azam University, political leader from AJK Syed Ghualm Raza Naqvi and representatives from various communities including Sikhs and Christians were present on this occasion.
Addressing the audience Ali Dosti said that freedom and independence had been the wish of Palestinians for long and now very soon they would see realization of their dreams.
He said that US, UK and other imperialists powers supported formation of Israel that was a blow to freedom fighters through out the world. “Perhaps this was the reason that Imam Khomeini called upon the freedom fighters even outside the Muslims to stand against Israel,” he further said.
Speakers on the occasion were unanimous that Israel should stop its excesses and accept the independence of Palestine, which would be a reality in near future. They also urged Pakistani government to make ‘free and independent Palestine’ a determining factor of its foreign policy.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Hussain who is also an expert on international relations said that Israel is the only country in the world that came into being as a result of terrorist organization and history is a witness of it. Online
