ISLAMABAD: US Special Envoy for Pakistan and Afghaistan, Marc
Grossman said Wednesday that abandoning Pakistan after the Soviet
withdrawal from Afghanistan was a big mistake.
Grossman met
with Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani here and stressed that
reconciliation in Afghanistan was not possible without Pakistan. During
the meeting bilateral relations between the US and Pakistan were
discussed.
The meeting was attended by US Ambassador to
Pakistan, Cameron Munter and US Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ryan C.
Crocker. Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Defense Minister Ahmed
Mukhtar and Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir were also in attendance.
Cooperation
in the ongoing war against terrorism was also discussed during the
meeting. Prime Minister Gilani said that messages from the US and
Pakistan should be strong and positive and should leave no room for
