ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) standing committee on Petroleum
has been told ministry of petroleum has decided to increase the prices
of petroleum products by 17 percent in order to complete development
schemes of MNAs.
Committee has also sought record of providing
gas connections to 510 CNG stations despite imposition of ban on new
connections.
Committee met here Thursday under its chairman Sardar Talib Hussain Nakai in OGDCL headquarters.
The
committee while expressing resentment over non participation of
committee meeting by minister for petroleum Dr Asim Hussain and decided
to send letter to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani over non
serious attitude of Dr Asim.
Country is passing through crisis
and the minister for petroleum has no time to give briefing to the
elected representatives of people, members of committee complained.
The
committee was told that gas load shedding would be observed for 2 days
in a week till Eid ul Fitr to facilitate CNG consumers. However
load-shedding duration can be extended after Eid.
The committee
also discussed the matter of allowing 510 CNG connections despite
imposition of ban on new connections. Barjees Tahir said details of all
these CNG connections be provided to committee.

chairman while giving ruling said details of all these connections be
provided to committee, which would review each and every case after Eid. Online
