ANP to decide about quitting Sindh govt on 28th

ISLAMABAD: Ruling Coalition partner Awami National Party (ANP) would decide on August 28 on its Sindh Chapter’s request seeking central leadership’s permission to quit the government.

ANP Information Secretary Zahid Khan confirmed to Online that meeting of the party’s president consultative body was called in to consider the situation in Sindh and the over all political scenario in the country.
The body would meet under leadership of Asfandiyar Wali in Peshawar that would also held deliberations on important issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and parts of the country.
The sources inside ANP said that the party’s chapter in Sindh was seeking permission of the central leadership of the Party to part ways with the government in Sindh. “But we clearly told them that we cannot decide it, the decision would be taken by consultative body or central executive committee,” the sources added.
Head of ANP in Sindh Shahi Syed had sought a go-ahead from the central leadership to part ways with the government after it was ignored while reverting to the local government system of military ruler Pervez Musharraf in 2001.
A couple of days ago the Acting Central President of ANP Bushra Gohar had called in emergency meeting at the Parliament House endorsing the position taken by the party’s Sindh chapter.
The party’s Sindh chapter had the mandate to stop its only minister for working after the developments, but the decision of quitting the provincial government was subject to approval of the CEC and its meeting was delayed as President of the party Asfandiyar Wali was in Germany.
Even the central leadership of ANP had reservations regarding 2001 local government system without necessary amendments.
The ANP sources said that matter of renaming the Peshawar International Airport would also come under consideration. It is pertinent to mention that ANP want to rename it as Bacha Khan International Airport. Online
