Supreme Court to resume hearing of petition against bogus votes today

The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) will resume the hearing of petition filed against registration of bogus votes by Election Commission of Pakistan, today (Monday).

A three-member bench of the apex court comprising chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain will hear Constitutional Petitions filed by Imran Khan, Chief of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf, under Article 184 of the constitution of Pakistan for the preparation of electoral rolls after eliminating all bogus votes.
Earlier on 19th May SC had directed the federal government and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to find out a way to overcome the status of bye-elections after adoption of the 18th Constitutional Amendment within three weeks.
Court had ordered that if it is not done so, than the court being custodian of the constitution will pass an order to save the system from other illusions and to ensure that all the organs of the state continue working under the constitution. SANA
