Dr Asim hints at increasing gas prices

Federal Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Asim Hussain has hinted an increase in gas prices on Sunday due to a raise in gas shortage in the country.
Talking to a private TV channel said that the decision of increase in gas prices will be made by the federal cabinet, adding that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has been informed about the whole situation.
He said that efforts were being made to revive the closed gas fields and improve production of existing fields to meet the shortage.
“Steps are also being taken to stop misuse and theft of gas which adds to the shortage in gas,” said Hussain.
He said that the government would try to overcome the gas shortage till the next winter but for this the misuse of gas would have to be stopped, adding that the legislation would be done for stopping the gas theft.
He said that after the decrease in petroleum prices at international level, Pakistani government also decreased the POL prices in the country.
Dr Asim Hussain said that India is facing shortage of petrol but the situation in Pakistan is stable. SANA
