ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has sought written reply from the
Prime Minister about implementation of its decisions with reference to
suspension and reinstatement of Additional Director General FIA Zafar
Qureshi in NICL scandal case.
A two-member bench of SC presided
over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry
took up NICL scandal case for hearing Monday.
Attorney General (AG) told the court Prime Minister was outside the country and he would return home on July 22.
CJP
remarked neither court’s decision had been implemented so far nor any
reply had been filed by the government. The Government did not perceive
the gravity of this matter. ” How can we demonstrate restraint more as
there is limit to everything? Government should not compel us in this
respect”, CJP further remarked.
The court ordered that interior
minister and interior secretary should also file their reaction. “We
are writing the word reaction with cautious and nor the word reply”,
CJP remarked. The court also directed that letter written by Rashid Beg
about foreign accounts be also presented in the court.
The
court ordered FIA to present detailed report till July 25 on the
investigation made so far in NICL scam besides informing the court how
many accused have been arrested so far, how many were proceeded
against, how much money was transferred to off shore accounts and
returned to national kitty and how many culprits who had fled to other
countries had been brought back. Online
