ISLAMABAD: PPP AJK leadership has decided to nominate Chaudhry Abdul
Majid as Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and President Asif Ali Zardari
has also given green signal to Chaudhry Abdul Majid in this respect.
Well-placed
sources of AJK PPP told decision was taken to nominate Chaudhry Abdul
Majid as AJK Prime Minister after consultation among President Asif Ali
Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Faryal Talpur and
other senior ministers.
Sources told consultation process was
under way to appoint one among Chaudhry Yasin, Sardar Attiq Ahmad and
another name as president of AJK. AJK PPP secretary general Latif Akbar
is likely to be nominated as speaker of AJK legislative assembly.
Sources told party leadership is likely to issue final list of its
candidates for the reserved seats within two to three days.
When
contacted Chaudhry Abdul Majid told Online all the newly elected
members of legislative assembly of AJK had authorised President Asif
Ali Zardari to take all decisions pertaining to the premiership of AJK
and other matters. Any decision to be taken by President Asif Ali
Zardari with regard to nomination of AJK prime minister will be
respected by every one.
Sources told Barrister Sultan Mehmood
was the strongest candidate for the slot of Prime Minister and certain
AJK PPP leaders were also active that he be nominated as AJK Prime
