Interior Minister Rehman Malik talking to media at Karachi
airport today strongly condemned the shooting incident that took place
in Quetta on Saturday. He said those who are targeting the innocent
people would never be forgiven, they will be arrested soon and brought
to justice.
He said these hired assassins have now shifted to Balochistan from
Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa and action would be taken against them. He asked
all the communities to help the government in rooting out these
elements.
Rehman Malik said following the package of Aghaz-e-Haqooq
Balochistan more youth are being offered employment while the province
is having more resources under the 18th amendment and the NFC Award. He
said he is visiting Quetta soon to discuss law and order situation with
the provincial Chief Minister. He said if asked the federal government
would provide logistic and any other support to curb the menace of
killing of innocent people.
To a question about the law and order situation in Karachi the
Interior Minister said that the federal government is providing each
possible assistance to the province government to improve the
situation. He said enemies of our country are engaged to destabilize
Karachi but their nefarious designs would be frustrated. He said we
have increased intelligence sharing.
About the arrest of terrorists from Islamabad he said due to the
police vigil their efforts were defused. He said they wanted to target
some VIPs and some prominent place in Islamabad, while further
investigation is on.
Meanwhile in an interview with a foreign media organization Rehman
Malik said that recent terrorist activities in Norway and India showed
that the militants have no religion, color and race.
Rehman Malik said that the upcoming terrorist activities would be
based on racism and extremism, therefore it is the need of hour that
the world would adopt joint strategy to avoid such incidents in future.
He said that it is the responsibility of provincial government to
maintain peace in Karachi, adding that after 18th amendment the total
responsibility of law and order situation was handed over to the
provinces and it is their responsibility to maintain peace in their
respective provinces, meanwhile extra funds were provided to the
provinces by president Asif Ali Zardari for this purpose. SANA
