NA session meets tomorrow: PM to take parliamentarians on board

ISLAMABAD: The government has summoned the National Assembly (NA) to meet on Monday to discuss the critical situation arising from the recent tussle between executive and judiciary during which the Prime Minister would take on board the parliamentarians regarding the executive stand.

The session had been summoned by President Asif Ali Zardari on the advice of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
According to sources, during the session the federal government is expected to get a resolution passed from the parliament regarding endorsement of powers of the Prime Minister.
The resolution would be supported by all allies of the PPP. Prime Minister would place the whole situation in front of the parliament and his address would focus on powers of PM which have been delegated to him by the parliament and it is his right to run the administrative affairs as chief executive. The powers of judiciary and executive are well defined and no other authority can use the authority of Chief Executive and if this is done than it would be an insult to the parliament.
Source said the speech of the prime minister will be polite and will give a message to the judiciary and other organs of the state that all institutions should work under their ambit and the legal and constitutional framework.
Sources said that the PPP will also ask Parliament to lend suggestion to normalize current situation in the country. The President, sources added, was also mulling to convene senate session to the powers between the judiciary and executive.
Sources further said that after his address the government and his allied parties would hold a debate on powers of PM after which a resolution is likely to be passed through the National Assembly.
It merits mentioning that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had earlier submitted the requisition for convening a special session to discuss the recent tussle between executive and judiciary
While on the other hand PML-N sources told Online that it would not support any resolution which would be against the judiciary while JUI-F and MQM would keep a safe distance from this scenario.
However, the next assembly session summoned by the government would likely see a fresh showdown between the treasury and the opposition sides.
On the other hand, Islamabad police have made elaborate security arrangements for the session of parliament to be held today (Monday). Sources said it has been decided to enhance mobile patrolling in the city and strict checking is also being ensured at all the entry and exit points of the Capital. Online
