Former law minister Babar Awan has said the government will complete its mandated term as there is no room for mid term elections in the constitution
Addressing the PPP’s District Information Secretaries in Islamabad
on Thursday, he said the PPP led coalition government respects the
constitution and all the institutions. All the state institutions
should work within their ambit for the promotion and strengthening of
democracy. He said only the executive authority has the discretion for
the postings and transfers of officials.
Babar Awan said those seeking to form alliances should prepare
themselves for the next year’s Senate elections and the general
elections in 2013. He said PPP’s triumph in Gilgit Baltistan and Azad
Kashmir elections has disappointed our political opponents. He said
those demanding mid term elections should first go for the local bodies
elections to gauge their popularity among the masses. SANA
