ISLAMABAD: Despite the prevailing tension cooked within last three
months between Pakistan and America, the short tour of US Secretary of
State Hilary Clinton to Islamabad is expected in next week during her
trip to India.
The spokesman of US Embassy in Pakistan Courtney
Belay told Online that although the schedule of Secretary Clinton’s
tour was arranged by US State Departments but her short visit to
Pakistan could not be stated out of question. It is very much possible
that she might come to Islamabad after completion of her official visit
to India, but her stay here might be for few hours, the source
disclosed.
He said that US does not want to freeze the ties
with Pakistan completely as she still considers Pakistan as its
frontline partner in the war against terrorism. She also realizes that
the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and setting up peace there
is not possible without support of Pakistan.
The source
confirmed that in spite of tall claims by Pakistan, a rift even now
exists in the relations between both countries and there is also an
increase in atmosphere of distrust between two countries. Recently US
Admiral Michael Mullen held Pakistani government responsible for the
murder of journalist Saleem Shahzad, which broug cracks in Pak US ties
to surface. Online
