ISLAMABAD: A meeting of Chief Ministers and Governors of the
provinces was held at Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Friday on to discuss overall
political situation and problems faced by the country.
The
meeting chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed
Yousaf Raza Gillani, says a press statement issued here on Friday.
The
chief executives of the provinces discussed current political situation
and reaffirmed their resolve to provide good governance, eliminate
corruption and provide relief to the people by addressing problems of
power shortage, price-hike and unemployment on priority basis.
They decided that strict measures will be taken to check price-hike and black-marketing during the month of Ramadan.
The
chief executives reiterated their resolve to ensure respect for all
state institutions and that they worked in a spirit of harmony and
within the parameters of tri-chotomy of power as enshrined in the
Constitution.
The meeting dispelled the notion propagated by
some of clash of institutions and expressed satisfaction that there was
no danger of any clash among institutions.
The meeting said
that the Parliament reflected the will of the people and the mother of
state institutions and therefore supreme.
The meeting also
reposed confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and
Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and the steps taken by them to
strengthen Parliament and the state institutions.
The meeting
