Mir Akmal Raisani, nephew of Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Mohamnad Aslam Raisani, was killed and 23 others, including 12 police officials, were injured in an explosion followed by severe firing with automatic weapons here in a football ground on Friday evening.
Local police said deceased Akmal along with his father Nawabzadah Siraj Raisani, who was the chief guest on the occasion of final of a football tournament, were proceeding towards their vehicle after the match when the explosion took place. It was followed by severe firing.
As a result, Akmal received multiple injuries and breathed his last on way to Quetta. Eighteen injured, including eight Anti-Terrorism Force and four district police officials were also shifted to the provincial metropolis.
Nawabzadah Siraj Raisani, younger brother of the Balochistan Chief Minister, luckily remained completely safe.
