ISLAMABAD: Afghan Parliamentarian Huma Sultani Sunday challenged
those who doubted her meeting with Taliban’s leader Mullah Omar in the
suburbs of Kabul by saying that he would appear shortly after
assurances of his security.
In a telephonic conversation with
Online’s correspondent, she said that if the international community as
well as the Afghan government guaranteed security to the Taliban’s
supreme leader in case he appeared for negotiations, Mullah Omar would
not hesitate to appear and hold talks with the Afghanistan government.
Huma
Sultani, member of the Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of Afghan
Parliament, said, “Mullah Omar is hiding nearby and I challenge all
those who are questioning my credibility that after assurances, he
would appear shortly. Then it would be proved whether I am true or
false.” She said that she held a meeting with the Taliban supreme
leader on June 28 last and exchanged views on the current political and
security situation of the country.
Responding to some Taliban
elements who had denied any such meeting between the two, saying Mullah
Omar never meets with women, Huma said she was 200 times sure that she
met Mullah Omar and another member of the Afghan Parliament Haji Abdul
Baseer was a witness to that meeting. It is pertinent to mention here
that Huma Sultani had addressed a news conference earlier on Friday in
which she broke the news of her meeting but the news was not well
received by the American and the international media and TV channels.
According
to a news website www.opinion-maker.org even Pakistani media gave a
dull response to the story that meant to relieve the country’s
government and security of the immense pressure exerted by the US and
allies over the reported presence of Mullah Omar in Pakistan.
Sultani
also condemned the foreign media and news channels for trying to
“underplay” her meeting with the Taliban’s leader and challenged them
to prove her wrong. After the Friday news conference, she talked to
Khyber TV, a Pushto netwrork on Saturday where to a question, she
confirmed that it was only two days back that she met Mullah Omar in
the suburbs of Kabul. According to sources, she is negotiating on
behalf of Hamid Karzai, indirectly for the US. What she really
discussed with Mullah Omar was not made public by her for obvious
connotations that could jeopardize her position. What really matters is
that when the US and even Hamid Karzai cry wolf and blame Pakistan for
harbouring such persons stands exposed, said the sources. Even the May
2 incident is all shrouded in mysteries and secrecies on which pretext,
Hillary Clinton came with a loud noise that Pakistan should produce
Mullah Omar otherwise the US would take strong measures, said the
sources. Obama too threatened Pakistan that if need be the US would
attack and recover such people. Now the American duplicity stands
exposed. With this story of Mullah Omar, now more doubts have been
