PNS base attackers were foreigners, reveals DNA report

KARACHI: Armed militants, who stormed the PNS Mehran naval base in Karachi on May 22 were foreigners and closer relatives, discloses a DNA report here on Saturday.

The attackers were equipped with latest and sophisticated arms and ammunition. The terrorist destroyed P3-C Orion Surveillance Airplanes. Pakistani security forces conducted a joint operation to clear the base, which lasted for almost 16 hours, in which four terrorists were killed whereas 10 personnel of navy and rangers also embraced martyrdom. The forces recovered four hand grenades, 2 suicide jackets and one rocket launcher form these terrorists.
The identity of those terrorists was still a mystery. After the incident two samples each from the dead bodies of four terrorists were taken. One was for to ascertain the nationality and other to determine the family background of these extremists.
According to the DNA test which was conducted at Islamabad, the attackers were not Pakistanis. According to SSP Investigation Niaz Khoso, NADRA had not any kind of record of these terrorists so it was not verified that they belonged to Pakistan.
