Demand for grants of defence ministry to the tune of over Rs 505b approved

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) has approved demand for grants amounting to Rs more than 505 billion in respect of defence ministry with majority vote.

35 cut motions were tabled by opposition about 8 demand for grants pertaining to defence ministry which were rejected by the house.
Opening debate over cut motions, PML-N legislator Sardar Mehtab Abbasi said people of the country will tolerate non availability of medicines in hospitals and lack of facilities in educational institutions so that our national defence becomes impregnable .
Military dictator Pervez Musharraf pushed the country into so called war against terrorism and diverted army from its real obligations. “We have lifted thousands of dead bodies in the wake of drone attacks due to ill conceived national security policies, he remarked. Attack on Mehran base had terribly shaken capabilities of the entire Navy, he added.
Nation wants allocation made for defence be spent honestly, he stressed.
Land has been allotted for construction of GHQ in Islamabad, he held. Government should do away with this project as it would change civil structure of Islamabad, he demanded.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of PML-N said defence budget be fortified, as it would strengthen defence service.
Ahsan Iqbal said whatever collection is being made through taxes by government is being spent on defence and repayment of debt. Some people used strategic institutions, he said adding time has come these elements be exposed. ISI is interfering in the national politics, he alleged. Online
